A Civil Society
Civil society presents itself as a utopia. The ability of these civilizations to maintain a peace of discourse and discipline greatly helps them manufacture their necessities. I used to proudly say that I took part in a civil society; after seeing the effects of this abomination, I have realized that we are but cogs in this machine.
In this horrid game, players -the consumers- are convinced that they can achieve greatness through dedication and hard work. Unfortunately, a sort of dramatic irony takes place. Unbeknownst to them, the game runners have made it nigh impossible to rise up to the desired level, leading to a tragedy of commons situation.
Another one of my observations is the emergence of the nihilistic mindset. This particular phenom sparked my interest, especially with it’s connection with the previous issue. Upon realization of their broken class system, some of these glorified homunculi have decided to materialize their depression into a philosophical form of thinking. Leading to radicalistic sexualisation of their own culture, their “do-goodness” mindset has merely become gilt upon their rusted morals.
A most infuriating behavior they exhibit to cover these flaws is their moral justification. They call themselves a civil society, yet they have changed the very definition of civil. They establish their wars and invasions based on their honor, and then they are forced to set limits on what one can do in this act of cognitive dissonance.
You may call me a cynic, but there is no civil society that continues to preach about their own civility like these flesh-bags.
I like your metaphor to how society is a game that is an illusion meant to get work out of the common people and sell false dreams. I like how your tone is very present as its clearly irate but also resigned at the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI like your writing style Aatreya. I definitely love how your style for this week is very reminiscent of Horace Miner's style from the Nacirema piece. I definitely agree with your critiques of American society.
